The Studio Reviews

We were looking for a quick getaway from Chicago for spring break, and “The Studio” was exactly what we needed. Beautiful property right on the lake that was also pet friendly (after asking Carol the owner, who was great and very responsive). The set up was great for the family – teenage daughter loved the loft and even my pre-teen son enjoyed having his own room. Even the dog loved being able to sit on the gated deck. Well appointed, great views, and plenty of places to kick your feet up and relax for a few days.

This home, location, and amenities are beyond description. Truly a magical home and location and the only place we will want to stay when visiting from St. Louis. The owners have thought of everything with comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen and the views from anywhere in the house are absolutely amazing!!! I am admittedly a bit of a clean freak and this house was clean! It’s already booked for the summer and understandably. We were trying to book literally while we were there and to our disappointment nothing was available until September. Anyone having the pleasure to read the reviews after you booked you WILL NOT be disappointed. Carol and Mel thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home, we will be back!!!! Thanks, Dawn, Mike, Matt & Andrea St. Louis, Mo

The view will take your breath away!

We (Mom + Dad + 9-yr-old) spent a week at this gorgeous property and have nothing but great things to say. If we enjoyed it as much as we did despite the blustery weather, I can’t imagine the fun we’d have during the summer when we could enjoy the lake activities! Here are our quick thoughts… PROS: * Very clean! I’m one of those renters who comes armed with my cleaning supplies and scrubs away before we settle in. This was the cleanest VRBO we’ve stayed in (and we’ve stayed in a lot!) * Lovely owners! The owners live next door and went out of their way to make our stay more memorable (when they found out we are birders, they came over with a feeder and seed for us). * The view! The house is situated perfectly to make it seem like you are ON the water. Two-story windows let you soak in the amazing views. * Tons of places to chill outside! There is ample seating along the shore, on the dock, and on the large wrap-around deck. * Incredible wildlife! We saw nature at its finest here — many loons, eagles that fished right off the dock, wood ducks, horned grebes, lots of fish… * Comfortable beds. * Very well-stocked kitchen. Any pan, gadget, utensil you can imagine is here for you. Lots of high-quality dinnerware, too. * Walkable to “Lake Burger” – a fun, tasty little place on the water. CONS (these are very picky details and would in no way deter us from eagerly staying here again in the future): * A little tricky to access. It’s not a problem unless you attempt to bring your boat down the hill. * It’s about an hour to get to the major state parks. You’re on the north side of the lake here, and most of the non-lake activities are on the south side. * Count on at least 20 minutes to get to a grocery store.
